Award of Excellence in Accounting Practices

Rockdale County Earns Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The new year is beginning brightly for Rockdale County and its Department of Finance, which recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2014.

“The award acknowledges the fiscally-responsible practices that continue to take place in Rockdale County,” Chairman and CEO Richard Oden said.

“I commend Director Miller and the Finance department for their diligence, along with the many department heads, elected officials and constitutional officers, in ensuring the financial integrity of Rockdale County remains solid.”

For the sixth consecutive year, GFOA recognized Rockdale in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting, and represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including a constructive spirit of disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR.

GFOA is a nonprofit, professional association that serves approximately 17,500 government finance professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada with office in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
