Youth Swim Lessons

Johnson Park Pool has teamed up with the American Red Cross to offer their Learn-to-Swim Program. Each class must have a minimum of four participants to begin. Participants must preregister for all classes. All classes meet twice a week for four weeks.

Parent and Child Aquatics

Ages 6 months to 3 years (one child per parent)

Children will adjust to the water by learning skills such as placing the face in the water, flutter kicks and pre-floating skills. All parents are taught how to instruct their children and recognize any errors in their child’s swimming technique. Children are required to wear swim diapers. Parents must be in the water with their children. Instructors will work at the skill level of each child regardless of varied abilities.

Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday 5 – 5:30 p.m.

Fee: $60/$75


This class is for students 4 and 5 years old who are ready to learn introductory water skills as well as beginner swimming skills. Students will learn to enter the pool properly, float, glide and the basics of the front crawl and other Red Cross Swim levels.

Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 – 6 p.m.

Fee: $60/$75


This class is for students 6 years and older. It introduces children to all levels of American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Lessons with little or no experience to basic swimming skills. Students will learn front crawl, rhythmic breathing and other Red Cross Swim levels.

Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday 6 – 6:45 p.m.

Fee: $60/$75


This class is for students 6 years and older who have completed the Beginners level as per instructor. Participants will need to be capable of completing one full length of the pool with rhythmic breathing and are comfortable in the water. Students will learn rotary breathing, endurance and correct the other strokes like back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.

Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday 7 – 7:45 p.m.

Fee: $60/$75



Youth Swim Lessons

Pre-School Class:    Ages 3-5

School-Age Class:   Ages 6 and Up

Advanced Class requirements:   Able to Swim Length of Pool

Classes may be added/dropped according to registration

Fee: $60 per session for County Residents

        $75 per session for Non-County Residents

Youth Swim Lessons follow the Red Cross Learn-to Swim instruction guidelines in which swimmers of all ages and varying abilities are helped in developing their swimming and water safety skills. A video may be included during swim lesson schedule.

Water Aerobics Classes

Hydro Fit:
Come and join a water aerobics class that utilizes the resistance of the water to get your heart rate up and your muscles moving. HydroFit, is an interval training class that will alternate between different equipment, such as noodles, water barbells, and aqua steps, to make each class fun and interesting. Each class will consist of a warm up, sets of repetitions followed by a recovery period, and, of course, a cool down and stretch. Come and shake off the stressors of your day while burning some calories. Non-swimmers welcome.
Days & Times:  Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays 9:00 a.m. – 9:50 a.m.
Fee:    $5 per visit or $50 per 18 visits – County residents
$7.50 per visit or $75 per 18 visits – Non-County residents

This program uses the buoyant qualities of water to enhance physical fitness through exercises. It is a medium-impact water class designed to provide cardiovascular conditioning, improved muscle tone, and improved balance. It is a total body workout without the stress of land-based exercise. Non-swimmers welcome!
Days & Times:   Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays 10:00 a.m. – 10:50 am.
Fee:    $5 per visit or $50 per 18 visits – County residents
$7.50 per visit or $75 per 18 visits – Non-County residents

Aqua Boot Camp:
A workout that will maintain or increase your fitness level with less impact on your joints, a “liquid gym” is the place to be! This higher intensity class is designed to improve cardio conditioning, alternating with strength/balance and core training segments. Nutrition guidelines, weight tracking, measurements and 21-day challenge incentive.
Day:     Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Time:   6 pm – 7:00 pm
Fee:     $99/month or $129/month with nutrition and weight tracking
$10 drop in  per class

Wet Sets:
This class is for senior citizens who are looking for a way to maintain flexibility and gain new acquaintances. One of the ideal ways to stay in shape, keep fit and maintain flexibility is through aquatic exercise. Exercising in the water is a great way to add resistance without the drawbacks of impact, and also to raise a heart rate for aerobic exercise, again without the resulting impacts that can be jarring and damaging to already fragile bones and ligaments. For this reason, water aerobics are ideal for those who may not be able to participate in more strenuous land based exercises with the resulting impacts, such as those who are in rehabilitation, or the elderly. This class is designed for participants who are age 60+ and belong to the Olivia Haydel Senior Center.  This class uses pool equipment for some basic exercises, but mostly relies on only the movement of the body. This class is also a great way to keep moving and socialize with others.

Aqua Zumba
Make a splash in the pool with Aqua Zumba. Take the high energy, calorie-burning dance party workout that you love from Zumba and heat up the pool with Aqua Zumba. Latin and international rhythms combine to move your body through the water while engaging your muscles in ways you aren’t used to experiencing – and that’s a GREAT thing! Your muscles have to fight the resistance of the water while your body is supported taking the pressure off your joints. The routines combine engaging, fun dance moves with the resistance toning benefits of the water. Combined with the party of a Zumba workout and this will be a class you will want to come back to again and again.
Days & Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. and 6 – 7 p.m.  Saturdays 9:15 – 10:15 a.m.
Fee: $8 per class or $50 for a 10 class punch card
Ages: 13 and up

Cost:      $95                      Minimum of 4 Must be enrolled 4 days prior to Start of Class

This is the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Class.  Class will cover standard first aid with CPR/AED for Adult and Child.  If participants are interested in adding the infant module, it will increase the class length and must be noted during registration.

This certification lasts for 2 years.  Please bring lunch/snacks and drink.
