Lamar Sims is the Director and Chief Appraiser of the Rockdale County Board of Assessors. In this appointed position, he oversees the appraisal and assessment of all residential, commercial and personal property in Rockdale County.
A distinguished property tax professional, Mr. Sims brings to Rockdale County more than 25 years of experience in the appraisal field. He served as the department’s Deputy Director from 1995-1999. Before joining Rockdale County, he was the Chief Appraiser at Newton County.
Active in the community, he is a member of the Georgia Association of Assessing Offices, International Association of Assessing Officers. His previous board memberships and community involvement include Friends of the Nancy Guinn Memorial Library, Habitat for Humanity, Barksdale Boys & Girls Club, the Juvenile Review Panel, Beyond the Bell, and McNear International. Mr. Sims also served as a mentor to several youth at Pine Street Elementary School, Salem High School, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and Rockdale County Juvenile Justice.
A longtime Rockdale resident, Mr. Sims attended Georgia State University and has one son.
