Visitors

When people visit Rockdale County, our vibrant community offers them a global snapshot. What better environment could there be to enjoy unique shopping, delightful eateries and nature? Georgia’s “perfectly-positioned” county is rich in tourism, and continues to serve as a first-class destination for movie and television show filming and a variety of dining and entertainment options. Rockdale is a traditional community steeped in innovation, history and culture, and is in close proximity to local interstates and Hartfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport – a fact that visitors continue to value and embrace.

While in Rockdale, we encourage visitors to lace up their walking shoes and explore our more than 10 miles of bike and walking trails surrounded by lush woods and waterways. Stop by the heart of Conyers in historic Olde Town, where the Vampire Diaries and other TV shows and movies film. Stroll Olde Town’s quaint streets and enjoy the local shops, diverse cuisine, entertainment and festivals of this Main Street community. Recreation lovers are sure to appreciate the tranquility of Black Shoals Park, a 650-acre reservoir and recreational facility offering fishing, canoeing, boating, picnicking and hiking. Also located on site is the Georgia Veterans Memorial Park, “Walk of Heroes”.

Just minutes away from Black Shoals Park is the world-class Georgia International Horse Park, which hosted equestrian and mountain bike venues for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. Today, the 1400-acre Horse Park is a multi-purpose facility featuring horse and car shows, fairs, festivals, concerts, picnics and banquets year-round. Lastly, visitors can take a short ride South on Interstate 20 and renew their spirit at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, home to Cistercian monks for more than 65 years, or spend a day at Panola Mountain State Park, Georgia’s first conservation park.
