ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. – Rockdale County’s Judicial & Administrative Complex Task Force concluded its work and provided its final recommendation(s) to the Board of Commissioners (BOC) on Tuesday, January 24th, during the joint BOC Work/Voting Session. The Task Force included six citizens and three County Representatives to help develop an overall plan for a new Judicial & Administrative Complex in Olde Town Conyers. Citizen members included Wendi Armstrong, Dr. Stephen Boyle, Franklin Beauford, Donald Murphy, Doug Smith, and JaNice Van Ness. County members included Chief Superior Court Judge Robert Mumford, Sheriff Eric Levett, and State Court Judge Richard Read.

The members began meeting to discuss this project on April 28th, 2022. In August, Jericho Design Group joined to assist in the project. During the January 24th Board Meeting, Doug Shaw from Jericho Design Group presented the recommendations for the Judicial and Administrative Complex.

The final master plan is available on the County website at rockdalecountyga.gov/our-government/board-of-commissioners/judicial-administrative-taskforce/. Page 32 Concept C2 Alternate Version is the preferred recommendation of the task force.

“This is definitely a marathon and not a sprint – but we have made some huge steps forward in establishing our funding sources and receiving a task force recommendation,” said Sue Sanders, Rockdale County Chief Operating Officer who has led the project since its inception.

Following the Task Force’s completion and official submission of their collaborative January 24th, 2023, recommendation, the next phase of the project involves identifying and hiring a program management firm. The request for qualifications is in progress. Once a program management firm is identified, the County will establish a timeline and begin the actual design and permitting process.
