Arabia Mountain Heritage Area Alliance Information

The Arabia Mountain Heritage Area Alliance is a group of volunteers and staff diligently working to preserve and promote the natural, scenic, cultural, and historic resources within the Arabia Mountain Heritage Area. The nonprofit was named in the 2006 Congressional legislation to coordinate and oversee the Area’s activities. Its Board of Directors consists of 19 citizens or representatives of the Heritage Area’s three counties, as well as representatives of tourism sites, neighborhood organizations and conservation groups.

The Arabia Mountain Heritage Area Alliance is dedicated to protecting, connecting and sharing the unique history, rich culture and engaging landscapes of this National Heritage Area for the benefit of all generations now and into the future.

Park Operation Hours – (Apr-Oct 9am-8pm)(Nov-Mar 9am-6pm).
Always keep gates closed.
Dogs must be leashed while entering/exiting park.
Dogs must be removed from park at the first sign of aggression.
Female dogs in heat & puppies under 4 months are not allowed.
Owners must remain inside with leash, and within voice control of their dogs always.
No more than 3 dogs per person, and dogs must be accompanied by a person over 18 years or older.
Children and infants must be kept under strict supervision.
Dogs must be legally licensed, have current vaccinations, and shall wear a visible license tag.
Smoking, glass containers, and edible items are not allowed.
Owners are responsible for any damages to the park, and or other dogs.
Owners are responsible for cleaning up and disposing of dog waste into designated containers.
Use park at your own risk. Rockdale County shall not be liable for any injury or damage caused by a dog at this park.

V.I.P. (Volunteers in Parks)

Do you enjoy your local parks and programs?
Do you have skills or talents you would like to share with others?
Do you like to meet and work with people?

If you answered yes to any of these question, the Rockdale County Recreation and Maintenance Division has something for you. It is called the Volunteers in Parks (VIP) Program and it is for everyone – professionals, senior citizens, students, young people and civic groups.

Volunteers are always welcome and needed for a variety of projects, programs and special events. There is almost no limit to the types of work that volunteers can perform. Interested persons must be 14 years old or older to volunteer.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Park/Site Aide
As a park/site aid, you would assist full-time staff in the daily operations of a facility during the summer and other high-use periods. Work may include providing information to the public, cleaning restrooms and collecting litter.

Trail Worker
Trail workers assist park personnel in all aspects of trail maintenance. This can be done individually or in small groups. Work may be done year-round but springtime is the best season.

Special Event Volunteer
Special events are great for individuals or groups looking for short-term, limited duration projects. Events might include concerts, arts and crafts festivals, park cleanups, holiday events and dedications. Generally, you would help with registration, setup and breakdown, information booths, and planning and coordination.
