Rockdale County 4-H Members Win Big in District Public Speaking Competition!
ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. – The Georgia 4-H Project Achievement process empowers young people with skills for a lifetime. Rockdale County 4-H has just concluded the 2022-2023 4-H District Project Achievement (Public Speaking) program, where students choose a project area of interest, research the topic, and prepare and deliver a presentation.
During the first weekend of March, 405 youth across Northwest District traveled to Rock Eagle 4-H Center to compete in the Junior/Senior District Project Achievement Competition. Rockdale County was represented by thirteen 4-H’ers who had prepared for months. Additionally, they work year-round to prepare a portfolio/resume document for their project area. Rockdale County 4-H had three high school members place first in their category.
Roderick Sneed presented in the Engineering & Mechanics category, Kelsey Andries presented in the Performing Arts Drama category, and Crosby McFall presented in the Public Speaking category. Among the 57 youth from Northwest District, these three will advance to the state-level competition this summer. They will spend a week in Atlanta competing to become a Master 4-H’er, the highest honor a Georgia 4-H’er can achieve.
Rockdale County 4-H staff is incredibly proud of all competing 4-Hers for stepping outside their comfort zone and showing Americans that public speaking should not be feared; it should be fun!
