Melisa Mims
Melisa Mims is the Executive Director of Public Relations for Rockdale County. As the Director, Ms. Mims serves as county spokesperson to the media; she reviews all printed communication materials and assists the Chairman and CEO with outlining and communicating county goals and priorities to the public. She also plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Public Relations Department.
Ms. Mims joins the Rockdale County government with more than twenty years of community outreach, sales, and marketing experience. She also brings her expertise in strategic planning and management into her role.
Before serving as the Director, Ms. Mims was the Community Relations Manager. In this position, she managed strong relationships between industries, community stakeholders, and the Rockdale County government.
As an active citizen of Rockdale, Ms. Mims believes in building a prosperous and sustainable community through service as a parliamentarian for the Rockdale PTA Council, the President of Heritage High School, and a member of the Superintendent Advisory Board. She has also previously served as a Rockdale County SPLOST member on the Parks and Recreation Committee.
She is an active member of the Covington Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and a Leadership Rockdale and Regional Leadership Institute graduate. Ms. Mims is a proud East Atlanta Suburban Chapter of Savannah State University National Alumni Association member.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Savannah State University and her Master of Arts in Psychology with a specialty in Organizational Development from The University of the Colorado Rockies.
