
Sherri L. Washington
Sherri L. Washington was elected to the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners in November 2016 and took office January 1, 2017. She earned her Bachelor's and Master’s Degrees from Savannah State University and then went on to obtain her Law Degree from Texas Southern University.
As an active participant in her community, Commissioner Washington has been involved with several organizations, including the Rockdale Rotary Club, the National Executive Committee of the National Council of Negro Women Rockdale-Newton Chapter, and the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She is also the founding member of the East Metro Orchids, parliamentarian for the Rockdale-Newton Section of the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women, and serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Angie’s House – a nonprofit organization that focuses on the children who are survivors of domestic violence.
Commissioner Washington has lived in Rockdale County for over 12 years and is the proud mother of one daughter, Jasmyne.
She is currently serving a four-year term as Commissioner Post 1 of Rockdale County, Georgia.
