ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. – Rockdale County invites residents to join the conversation on the future of Rockdale Transportation by participating in the upcoming Transit Development Plan (TDP). The TDP will identify the transit needs and opportunities of the county to inform the public of its future transit system investments. By aiding communities in developing a transit vision, the Rockdale TDP will evaluate transit alternatives that move the community closer to fulfilling its public transportation needs. This TDP will lay the foundation for partnerships to successfully address transit needs that best support the county’s continued growth and economic development.
The Transit Development Plan is a 12-month study consisting of the following key phases:
- Evaluate current transportation conditions.
- Gauge current transportation needs through public and stakeholder engagement.
- Anticipates future mobility demands.
- Assess opportunities for innovation in public transit.
- Creates a blueprint for short, medium, and long-term transit improvements in Rockdale.
Public input is vital to the planning process, and Rockdale County encourages the community to participate. To help guide the future of Rockdale Transportation, anyone who lives or works in Rockdale is encouraged to fill out the online survey at https://www.rockdalecountytdp.com/. The survey is available through May 2, 2023. On March 17, 2023, at the St. Patrick’s Day event in Olde Town Conyers from 5 to 7 pm, there will be a pop-up where residents are encouraged to stop by the Transit Development Planning table to learn more about the Transit Plan. On March 21, 2023, a Rockdale Transit Development Plan Open House will be held at J.P Carr Gym (986 Hardin St., Conyers, GA 30012) from 5 – 7 pm. The open house will allow the public to review information related to the plan and provide feedback on safety improvements at intersections, pedestrian facilities like sidewalks, and additional information related to local transit services. The project team will be on hand to answer questions.
