Volunteers Needed for Rivers Alive Cleanup
ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. – (September 16, 2022) Volunteers are needed for a Rivers Alive community waterway cleanup planned for Saturday, October 8 at Pine Log Park from 9:00AM – 12: 00PM.
The cleanup is sponsored by Rockdale County and the City of Conyers governments. Volunteers will be provided with gloves, safety vests, masks, water, and will receive a free t-shirt. “Conyers Walmart Store #2475 is a proud supporter of cleanup efforts in donating funds for supplies.”
The cleanup begins at 9:00AM, Volunteers should access Pine Log Park via the park’s entrance at 1451 Pine Log Road, where they will check in with staff and receive instructions. Stormwater tax credits are available for participating city and county residents.
“We welcome individuals, families, organizations, and anyone interested in volunteering some time to clean up a waterway in our community,” said Stormwater Manager Melissa Staton. “This is a great way to give back while making waterways that run through our community healthier.”

Meeting Announcement to Update Hazard Mitigation Plan
ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. – The Rockdale County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) announces the kick-off meeting regarding the Hazard Mitigation Plan Update (HMP). This public meeting is required for the planning committee and will be open to the public to provide input for our Hazard and Mitigation solutions.
The Rockdale County HMP update is prepared to address the risk to life and property resulting from a wide range of natural and technological hazards. This plan update will provide homes, businesses, and communities with safeguards to mitigate the impacts of hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, hazardous materials, and other natural and technological hazards.
The public meeting will take place on Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at J.P. Carr Community Center. Rockdale County Citizens are urged to attend this public meeting to learn more about HMP update, and for citizens to provide necessary feedback to solution strategies that will affect Rockdale County.

Rockdale County to Host 2nd Electronics Recycling & Paper Shredding Event of 2022
ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. – Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful (KCRB) is holding the second of two Electronics Recycling & Paper Shredding events in 2022 for Rockdale residents and business owners on Sat., Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the parking lot of 1400 Parker Road, Conyers, 30094.
The free, half-day event will provide the public a place to safely discard and recycle old documents and electronics, regardless of working condition. Due to other events in the area, participants can access Parker Road from Flat Shoals Road or from Iris Drive to Royal Drive and Commercial Drive.
There is a maximum of 4 banker boxes per vehicle allowed for paper shredding, and participants must provide photo ID as proof of an address in the County for both shredding and recycling. Professional electronics recycling and paper shredding companies will securely handle all items on site under the close supervision of government staff. Once the shredding truck is full, shredding services for the day will end.
Cash fees will apply to certain items for electronics recycling, including $25 each for TVs and CRT monitors. All other electronics are free to recycle. The following is a list of items accepted/not accepted at the event.
All items brought to the event will be recycled and shredded on a first come, first serve basis.
